Bio

About James

James Ouellette serves as the ADA Coordinator and The Safety and Health Coordinator–Deputy Emergency Manager for the City-County of Butte-Silver Bow. Diagnosed with a disability at age seven, James was a special education student throughout school, an experience that shaped his passion for accessibility and inclusion.
 
James knows American Sign Language (ASL) and trained as a deafblind intervener at the Canadian Deaf-Blind Association. He is a graduate of the ADA Coordinator Training Program through the University of Missouri’s School of Architecture. Additionally, he holds credentials as an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) and in Human Resources Management from Cornell University. He is an appointed member of the Montana Department of Health and Human Services HIV Prevention Group and the Montana Health Equity Research Assembly.

In 2024, James was recognized as one of Southwestern Montana’s "20 Under 40" for his contributions to accessibility, safety, and health. James is a proud member of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and resides in Butte, Montana, with his partner, Clayton, and their two dogs, Ann and Apollo.
